Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Minority Leader, has experienced two widely reported incidents that raised public concern about his health and fitness for office. In both cases, he appeared to "freeze" mid-sentence during press conferences — once in July and again in August — standing silently for an extended period and appearing disoriented. In each incident, he had to be assisted by aides before continuing or exiting the stage.
